In this class, we’ll learn what defines the chanson in the 16th century and contrast the characteristics of two competing chanson schools: French and Franco-Flemish. The class will feature lots of listening examples by favorite composers such as Jacques Arcadelt, Jacob Clemens non Papa, and Claudin de Sermisy.
