A class on Florence between 1500 and 1525, and how early madrigals were composed by Verdelot and others in the private gardens of Medici supporters laying low while the Medicis were out of power. There were whole troupes of musicians and actors collaborating together! We will learn about, listen to and perhaps sing some of these madrigals if time and interest permits.
